Entry Requirements
Eligibility Criteria:
For O-Level students:
a. Singapore Citizens (SC) and Permanent Residents (PR) who have registered to sit for the GCE O-Level Examinations in the year of the EAE;
b. International Students enrolled in Government, Government-aided and Independent Schools during the year of EAE application, and who have registered to sit for the GCE O-Level Examination in the year of the EAE.
OR
For ITE students:
ITE students who are in their final year of study of their Nitec and Higher Nitec courses.
For the AY2018 polytechnic intake, ITE graduates who complete their Nitec course in June or December 2017 and Higher Nitec course in September 2017 or March 2018 will be eligible to apply for admission via Poly EAE.
Student Selection:
a. In selecting students, the polytechnics will take into account their aptitude and interest in a field related to the diploma course they are applying for. Students with outstanding talents, such as in sports, arts, leadership, entrepreneurship and community service may also be considered.
b. The polytechnics will have the discretion to determine how they assess applicants' interests, strengths and aptitudes. Polytechnics may also consider participation in relevant Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs), Advanced Elective Modules (AEMs), Applied Learning Programmes (ALP) and Applied Subjects, as well as participation in activities such as work attachments and sustained involvement in projects that are related to the course students are applying for.
Confirmation of Conditional Offers for Polytechnic Admission
c. EAE applicants will be given conditional offers* should they be selected by the polytechnics. While interest in a field of study is important, to better assure that students admitted through EAE are able to cope with the rigours of a polytechnic education, applicants will have to meet the prevailing polytechnic admission criteria to confirm their conditional offers, which are as follows:
For O-Level holders:
i.
A net ELR2B2 score of 26 points or better for the GCE O-Level examinations*; and
ii.
Minimum Entry Requirements (MER) for the polytechnic course you have been offered under Poly EAE*. The MERs for each polytechnic course can be found on the polytechnics' websites.
Note: ELR2B2 is used for admission into the polytechnics. It refers to:
EL: English Language
R2: 2 relevant subjects for the polytechnic course applied for
B2: 2 other best subjects which could be elective subjects
* Results may be combined from no more than 2 sittings of the GCE O-Level examination.
For final-year ITE students:
i.
Final net GPA of 2.0 or better for Higher Nitec qualification; or
ii.
Final net GPA of 3.5 or better* for Nitec qualification.
Note:
* For Nitec in Nursing holders only, the minimum GPA requirement for admission to the Diploma in Nursing or the Diploma in Health Sciences (Nursing) is 3.0.
Students who have secured a place in a polytechnic by accepting and confirming an EAE offer will not be eligible to take part in the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE), Joint Polytechnic Admissions Exercise (JPAE) or other polytechnic admissions exercises. -
